Position: Lead Pastor
Family: The love of my life – Jimmelynn, Kids: Kristi Hardin (her husband Tim – aka: “Dub”), Jason (his wife Staci) & Blake (his wife Kayleigh). Grandkids: Trey & Norah
Favorite Food: I’ve never found a food I didn’t like! From the traditional to the exotic – but it’s hard to beat a nice cut of steak, grilled to perfection (medium rare, of course)
A book that has inspired you and why: Leading with a Limp, by Dan B. Allender. This is a wonderful book about servant leadership. It’s not always confidence, charisma and intelligence that count in spiritual leadership. The leaders God chooses are more broken than strong, more damaged than whole, more troubled than secure. The most effective leaders in the Kingdom of God don’t rise to power in spite of their weakness; they lead with power because of their weakness. The broken, humble leader is the man or woman God wants to use to accomplish great things for Him.
Verse that has been significant for you: Romans 12:1-2 Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in the view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God – this is your spiritual act of worship. Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is – his good, pleasing and perfect will.
Truth about God that amazes you: I am overwhelmed by the tenacious, incomprehensible love of God, and the fact that he actually pursues us when we stray from Him. He loves us so much that He will allow things into our lives that may hurt us temporarily so that He can restore us, heal us and refocus us into a child who becomes more productive, more compassionate and more in love with Him. He loves us too much to allow us to stay like we are.
Favorite place you’re lived / visited: Myrtle Beach, South Carolina (1 hours from Jimme’s hometown. It’s been one of our vacation hangouts for 30 years) You’ve got the beach, fishing and golf…what more can I say!
Reason you love Church@Main: It’s a place filled with folks who passionately want to serve the Lord, love on each other and help introduce others to Christ. It’s a place where you can be real and authentic – where people have a hunger for the truth. We’re not playing a game here. We’re honest and real. We don’t put on a mask when we come to church. When someone hurts – the whole body hurts. When someone rejoices – the whole body rejoices. It’s a place of grace that lovingly welcomes anyone that comes through our doors – regardless of their past or present situation. We’re not here to impress people. We’re here to follow Christ with all of our heart. Anyone is welcome at Church @ Main regardless of where you are in your journey of faith.
If everyone would just…understand that’s it’s not always about them … the world would be a better place.
Something you’ve yet to do that you really want to do: Get my pilot’s license and fly a plane.
